Scot Gov - Budget Animation

The Scottish Government tasked Whitespace to create a short video and social post campaign for their new budget announcement in 2018. I was tasked with creating the look and feel and illustrated assets.

I chose a friendly vector-style illustration, which consisted of simple shapes and bright colours, all to create an approachable and straight-forward visual for a not so straight-forward concept.

Since the animation contained fluid transitions throughout, each illustration needed to easily transform into a new shape when required.

Additionally, I used transparency layers to create exciting interactions between the simplified shapes. This gave the animation an almost child-like wonder and friendliness.

Though the video addressed budgets and taxes, we were asked to try and avoid overt representations of moeny whenever possible.

From the bank of illustrations, I created a series of social posts to accompany the launch of the video. These were seen over the Scottish Government's social feeds on the day of the announcement.
